Carrigaline Court Hotel was definitely the place to be seen on Thursday, April 25th and almost everybody associated with our school came to support the first ever Shanbally NS Fundraising Fashion Show. It was wonderful to see the different generations of several families, gathering together to take to the catwalk, to cheer on the many, many models and to enjoy a night of great entertainment and fun together. From the tiniest of Junior Infants to some of our glamorous Grannies and Grandads, we all cheered and clapped as the models bravely walked proudly along the ramp. We could have been attending a major show in Paris, such was the excitement!!
The Parents’ Association Committee led this great venture with enthusiasm and had every aspect of the night organised perfectly, ensuring that the whole show ran smoothly and that the night was enjoyed by all…young and old!!
Sincere thanks to all those who gave their time and expertise freely. Sinéad and the staff of Carrigaline Court Hotel were most helpful and accommodating. Emer O’Sullivan and Vivienne McCarthy, of Lockdown Models, were the MC’s on the night. Thanks to parent, Lisa Roberts, who owns Verso and the Dress-Bar in Douglas Shopping Centre, for inviting along the celebrity guests Danny Murphy and Dan Murray of Cork City F.C., who accompanied some of the children on the catwalk, to the delight of the audience.
The D.J., Ian Hendrick, kept the whole show moving at a brisk pace, with more than 150 pupils, ex-pupils, parents and staff taking to the catwalk. Magician, Gerard Kearney, entertained the younger guests and, backstage, Leanne from “Glamour Eyes” and staff of Retro hair, ensured that all the models looked their best. Bronagh and Tracey also helped the models prepare for their venture on the catwalk earlier on in the day. Mention must also go to those who helped set up the room for the night… our thanks goes to Jackie Roberts who helped transport the chairs and also to Pfizers Social and Sports Association for the use of their chairs on the night.
